| Life Science Innovation Center (Research and Education Program
for Life Science) at University of Fukui was founded in April 2005, for
fostering and maintaining a community of excellence in study and research
in life science and its related areas at University of Fukui.
More than 90 members who participate in this interdisciplinary program have been brought together from Bunkyo and Matsuoka campuses
Three missions of this program are as follows.
（1） To carry out world-class science to be a Mecca in the field. In this program, we encourage collaboration among members.
（2） To offer an outstanding opportunity for graduate training in the field of life sciences including medicine, psychology and biology, in addition to authentic fields of engineering. The common purpose of all the participants in this program is to prepare students to develop creative and innovative scientific/engineering research in order to lead productive and successful carriers in life science and its related areas of engineering.There is an enormous breadth of life science research interests represented among the members, so that students are able to pursue study in a wide range of life science areas and they can carry out their dissertation research in collaboration with more than one laboratory spanning two campuses.
（3） To enhance and stimulate science (biology) education at high schools, especially those in Fukui prefecture and neighbouring regions.
